Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving is a time families honor traditions new and old, intentionally and out of habit, for better or worse.

Here is a list of Thanksgiving traditions I am familiar with. Please take a moment to read through and consider which are best for you and yours.

  • Time with loved ones
  • Card games
  • Overeating
  • Making people feel guilty for not being where you want them to be
  • Collecting fall leaves and branches for center pieces and name tags
  • Sharing what you are thankful for
  • Journaling about what you are thankful for
  • Throwing away resources for disposable plates and flatware
  • Pin the tail on the turkey
  • A morning or afternoon walk
  • Touch Football
  • Harvesting winter gourds
  • Herb drying
  • Story swap
  • Visit the elders
  • Teach children new chores
  • Stressing about the details
  • Wasting Food
